This engine is distributorless 3.8. Has coil pack.
Car had a egr Tube from egr to exhaust pipe) tube leak that lead into a hole. The air escaping from the leak ended up melting some plastic vacum and during the driving the car went dead, turned over but no spark. Towed car to home repaired engine vacumm lines and repaired any other possible damage. Car started up. Took for test drive. NO POWER as I accelerated the car would hit a certain rpm then slowly drop. Placed car in park reved engine up and the rpm would not exceed 2.0 rpm. Went to turn car around head back to home and car slowly more & more lost power to the point the car died and would no longer start. (NO SPARK) No check engine light. I checked fuel first okay, I ohmed the coil was okay but still replaced. Checked (okay) and replaced the camshaft sensor. Then I looked and looked and looked and was suggested 10 different location to locate the ignition control mod.(nothing) To find out it is part of the cpu. It was suggested for me to check the cpu for a possible poor/broken ground. I tested the 4 grounds into the cpu and checked all vital areas of grounding straps. Found one broken strap from engine block to fram chassie, repaired.
