1996 Ford Thunderbird Need to know how to

I have done, it is a two person job - expect it to take 3-4 hours.

I upgraded my brakes from drum to disc, and replaced shocks, so I may have done more than required to get it out.

I started by draining the rear-end, then removed my tires, then removed my brake drums. You will have to remove the axle nut holding your half shaft in place. I think you should be able to get the half shaft out without any more disassembly, but I did not try... Once removed from the wheel assembly give it a solid tug from the rear-end and it should come right out.

You will have to disconnect the drive shaft from the rear-end and then remove the four bolts holding the bracket onto the rear suspension.

It should drop out and you should be able to reverse these steps and put the new one back in. Make sure you replace the half shafts while they are out if they are bad (they are like a $80 core charge each).

I am sorry if I forgot anything on this. It has been awhile and my repair was a little more extensive than what you are trying to do.
