I recently bought a 1996 Ford Thunderbird and I absolutely love it. I changed all the fluids, brakes, suspension parts, etc. Recently, I woke up to head to work (at an Auto Shop) and had no problems even though it was snowing out. After work, I fired it up and went to a gas station a few blocks away. Still had no problems. As I was heading home, it started to misfire and "chug" and shake pretty bad. It also took longer to accelerate then normal. I limped it home and left it until it warmed up a bit. It normally idles at around 900 to 1000 RPM's but it starts off now at 2000, drops to 1500 and hangs there for a second or two then idles like always. But it still has a hard acceleration. I started the car and unplugged the MAF sensor and the RPM's dropped a little as well. I replaced it with a new TPS and that helped alot but it still accelerates with a misfire. Also, my check engine light has NOT come on yet. Any ideas would be appreciated. Any way to test the MAF without a multimeter? I can buy one but my Snap-On bill is high enough already, lol.
