Check fuses
check if you have brake lights when stepped on brakes
I would recheck fuses and wires
good luck

When my 95 Thunderbird has had problems shifting out of park it has been because my wheels were not in a proper position or it may have been that the steering column was not in the right position. Try turning your steering wheel in a few different positions and see if it helps if you haven't tried that already. They can be a little tempermental at times. I can't even begin to suggest anything on electrical since I have alot of that stuff that doesn't work. If you were installing things it would be very easy to move the wheel out of place. It may be two separate issues. I am not an expert - I just know what has worked for me.

My 96 Thunderbird did the same things a while back. On mine, the whole center console went out and I couldn't get it out of park. For mine, it ended up being a fuse that was underneath the hood. $25 later she was back on the road...:-)
