95 t-bird 4.6 ran poorly and smelled like rotton eggs all the time so I suspected cats are bad. Took them out and discovered that they were melted and plugged so i gutted them out completely (no emissions testing here). Runs better now but still poorly. Will the lacks of cats affect the oxygen sensors and cause it to run poorly still? About how much would new cats cost me?

from it running rough like that with the plugged cats, it could have burned up your o2 sensors and harmed your exhaust valves or various other things, perform a compression test and get back with the results

you can find cats from 100-300

if you want more performance go with high flow cats, jc whitney sells them cheap.
