When recently cold started, the tranny shifts fine into reverse and then delays approx. 3-5 seconds when shifting back into drive. After warming up this disappears. The climate is rather warm as well. After looking onlinearound I found that the o-rings around the trans filter may have become harderend which could cause exactly this problem. Do I need a complete transmission rebuild in order to fix this problem, and if so what would the estimated cost be, exluding any major tranny damage?

Actually, the o-ring that harden are in the valve body and the trans doesn't need a full rebuild. What I recommend is going to the parts store and finding an additive designed for this problem. THey make items just for this problem. It should help.

Try it and let me know if it helps.
