when I start my car the temp gauge is on cool, I drive it about 5 miles it immediately rises to hot but the car does not overheat. The check engine light also comes on. I changed the thermostat, plugs & wires, PCV valve, and it is full of coolant with no leaks. I also changed both of the O2 sensors in the exhaust system. When I stop and leave the engine running the radiator fan races at a very high speed. I also had some heater problems last year. It would blow but not get very hot. Any advice would be appreciated.

try changing the gauge sensor. it's slightly forward under the thermostat housing. has a push on threaded single post connector. go to harbor freight china tool store and get their remote temp sensor on sale this month. you just point and read! that way you can check temps all around engine, radiator and hoses. if heater core hoses show hot and cold it is probably plugged. you can try a backflush to clear.
