Hello,

I currently have a leak in my rack and pinion unit. When my dad took a look at it, he said it looked like it was just the driver-side seal that was leaking, so we were both wondering if it is possible to just replace the seal somehow without taking off the entire unit, or if the entire unit has to just be replaced.

Thanks.

Hi LinkOOseven
Any leak in the rack assembly other than a line requires removal of rack. When a seal goes and allows fluid to leak out of the dust boot a bushing has worn considerably. Repair is not cost effective rebuilt units are the way to go.
You may try some power steering sealer but eventualy you will need to replace.
Good luck
