Been having trouble starting vehicle, engines turns over but doesn't stay started, left me stranded however if I held the starter switch in position as to start engine it would stay started, did this in order to get home. which was one block.

how fast did you go home!? what speed!? did/does car run fine!? will it quit( letting go of key) if you hold foot on gas to medium!? your key is not the actual switch. the switch is operated by a rod from key. it's located down towards bottom end of steering column. i beleive it is adjustable for exact operation. in otherwords it slides a little to compensate for any rod/key sloppiness/play? when set correctly you tighten the bolts. you might just have a bad switch also.

I couldn't go too fast it is a manual transm and if I let go of the switch I could shift but then the car would die. I have a short in this poor car, the radio and wipers do not work unless I turn the ignition. I went home for lunch and tried starting it and it started right away, however it does run kind of rough, I know I need to inquire about the clunker rebate.
