1985 Ford Tempo spark plug wires

THANK YOU!! I will post here more often for my car problems.

Ok I hooked it up like the diagram shows and it doesnt start! ON the distributor cap there is a 1 where the spark plug for the 2nd cylinder spark plug wire goes. should I try swaping #1 and #2?

edit: What if I tried putting #1 where the 1 is on the cap, then go in order putting 3,4,2 after it.

Firing order in diagram should be correct unless your vehicle is not the stock equipment..what is the 8th digit of your VIN just so I can make sure this is the correct firing order?

why not try starting the wiring sequence as the actual cap suggests?worse could happen is a little backfire.if the distributor has been removed before and not put back in the same position or the diagram is not totally accurate as to distributor position but approximate then there ya go!dont mix the sequence by just switching 1 or 2 wires. trace each wire to it's designated cylinder per the diagram.
