I just took my car to a mechanic with the thermostat part. When I returned he advised me that the part was not the right part, but that didn't matter because I really didn't need to have the thermostat. He advised that I have great water flow and everything else looked good.

Is this a little known fact. Is the thermostat to a car, like tonsils are to humans...there but unecessary? If not, how long can I drive this car without the thermostat? I live in Florida.
Thank you.

you dont really have a use for it in florida. it's designed to keep the engine at a certain temp and make heat at the heater during cold weather. engine will probably last longer running below normal temps. might effect exhaust emissions testing? make sure it is warmed up good for test?
