I have a 1993 Ford Taurus 95000 miles 3.8 liter engine. My problem has been going on for more than a month. The first time it happened, the mechanic said it was the sensor and it was easily fixed. It went fine for a while, and started happening again. I got upset because I could start the car but could not put it into drive, reverse or anything, it would just not shift. When I got upset, I pushed it really hard and got it to go, but that seemed to bust the brake line. I recently got that replaced, but now two days later the original problem is happening again. I cant afford to keep having my car towed back to the garage. A friend looked at the brake sensors and they are attatched. What else could this be?

I had a friend help me with this, he spent a while trying different things. What we came up with is that it is something with the switch. If he was under there pressing it by hand and wiggling something the brake lights would go on. He took out the switch and tried to adjust it. He got it to work for now, lets see how long it will last! I was happy to find out about the override thing where you can still get it into gear, it will help me not get stranded in the future! Thanks for your help!
