Where is the oil plug?

1997 Ford Taurus GL 121573 (whew) I ran the car hot . . . think it's ok though. I've drained the radiator & replaced the coolant expansion tank {learned the proper name of it too !} and refilled it. The oil is black . . . not foamy or cloudy. This may be a save here {thank GOD!} The oil filter is easily turned to remove . . . where's the oil plug & how in the world does anyone get under this car? You'd think I would know for as long as I've had it but well . . . Thanks for the help and I read all the prior inquires and learned alot. I've had the sensor trouble as well & the C/E light is still on so I will have the Mass Flow Regulator checked now. . . . Thanks so much . . . Marie

You do your maintenance?? Excellent.. I recommend you go and buy yourself a set of drive-on ramps, I have a plastic set, cost around 25 bucks at the parts store,, they're nice and light,, oil drain plug is on the oil pan at the far end towards the rear of the pan,, hopefully no damage to your engine,, overheating can cause serious damage to newer cars, it's not a good thing,, good luck.. oh yeah, my usual recommendation also,, go buy yourself an obdII scan tool , on here for around 70 bucks, or your local parts store,, 100 gets a nice tool for the casual mechanic.. Everyone should own some sort of this tool , invaluble and easy to use,, gets you pointed in the right direction.

The Obd2 scan tool is available on ebay for about $30, it is small and works great. I bought one and it can be used on virtually any vehicle from 1996 on up.
