what am i looking at with this type of a problem. it's a 2003 ford taurus. I was told that there is a moderate oil pan gasket leak. What will i have to do or should do

You should start by getting a Haynes or Chilton manual (if you haven't done so already).

If you have a Y pipe (that huge Y-shaped exhaust pipe under the car), then you will need to remove it. It's not as easy as it seems, because there's a bolt that you can't see.

Once you get the Y pipe off, removing the oil pan is straightforward.
