My husband just replaced the starter (& solenoid) on my 1998 ford taurus SE V6 (125,000) car due to the no start, clicking problem. Now, the car starts but it makes a whining noise as if the key is kept at the start or on position even when it is removed. At the same time, the starter sounds like it won't disengage (won't stop starting). So I'm hearing 2 different sounds at the same time - a whining noise and an overstarting noise. I had to disconnect the battery in order for this to stop. The starter (& solenoid) are Brand New ($169). My husband is no mechanic but did it anyway, claiming he following the directions. Does anyone know what is going on? Any help will be greatly appreciated.
