The Lower transmition hose is leeking trany fluid where the rubber line meets the metal one. Unfortuantly, this is a dealer part and a pain to replace. It was suggested to me to cut the metal line on both sides and clamp a hose to it. Does this sound like a bad Idea?

If the hose has the metal ends clamped on it from the factory it's a high pressure hose no you cannot splice it.
These hoses are normally easy to replace be sure to keep trans fluid level full and bleed any air in the system if you decide to take on the hose replacement
