Front end clicking noise?

Thank you for this post I had this problem and had to get two new CV axles for $270.00 installed them myself I love this site.

When I turn the steering wheel to right or left, there is a loud clicking sound in the front end of the car. The dealer said they all do this and nothing can be done. What causes this problem and can it be fixed and if so, what is the fix?

Probably Cv joints are you still under warranty? i would go to another dealer no car is supposed to make noises while turning.

My 2002 tarus which sat for about a year because of needing a new starter and battery has been fixed but now it makes a pretty loud "clicking" noise whenever it's in drive and moves slowly forward. It also feels like it doesn't want to go, almost like as if the emergency brake was left on.
But it isn't on and hadn't been used before. It doesn't seem to make the sound going backwards. I haven't taken it out for a drive because I want to add/change oil and put in fresh gas along with a stabilizer or stp.
Do you have any ideas? My thought was cv joints or maybe just needing to
get the fluids circulating? Please help. Thanks, Bill

Since it only does it going forward, you might suspect rusted rear brake drums and the shoes are catching and releasing with a snap. That rust commonly forms overnight from the humidity in the air, and it would certainly be worse after a year. The clue is you will probably not be able to move the car when pushing it by hand on flat ground. Driving it and using the brakes will wear the rust off. You might also find the rear wheels lock up very easily the first few times you apply the brakes. That will clear up too. I have a car that skids the rear wheels at the end of my granite driveway the first stop of the day, then it's fine after that. Just normal surface rust on the drums.

Every time i hit the gas or brakes there is a loud click in the front of my car, almost sounds like im running over a fragile stick. Car shop said not to worry about ig but damn its annoying. Also the car pulses and surges a lot. It stalls. Especially when i go uphill. Ive had the fuel pump replaced, ran fuel injector cleaner through it, changed the fuel filter and spark plugs. Its in the shop getting the coil packs replaced now. What do i do for both of these?

First, does the noise change when making turns? And if the shop said "don't worry about it" did they say what caused it? Like you, it would drive me crazy, and you and I both know it isn't normal. My first guess would be CV joints. Did they check them? You can do it. In a parking area, turn the steering all the way left or right. See if it gets worse, and let me know.

As far as the engine, has the check engine light ever come on so it could be scanned for codes? Has anyone checked the catylatic converter to see if it is plugging?

K i got it back from the shop and the coil pack was the stalling prob. The spark plugs were overloading it.

The loud noise is still there. What exactly am i looking for when i check the cv joints? The shop couldnt figure it out. When i turn while parked it doesnt click but grinds a little, like a vacuum. Mainly the only time it acts abnormal is while driving. Ill hit the gas and it sounds kinda like its clickin into place. The same when i hit the brakes. Only its very loud and sounds as if its coming from the front right tire. What are the best ways to check the cv joints?

The easiest way to check is to drive in a circle to see if the sound gets worse. Also, I want you to check the backing plate behind the rotor to see if it is rusted or bent allowing it to rub the rotor.

vhecked the cv joints and that's not it, but we noticed on the undercarriage that one of the bolts holding it up was bent back. it looks like the aframe is pushing it back when accel or decel, causing a clunk. i plan on jacking up the frame to relieve the pressure on it, hammering the bolt lightly back to straight, putting a washer on, and finally tightening the bolt back up. i'll let you know how it goes. thanx for all of this. ive included a pic of the bent one, although it might be difficult to see.

THe picture is fine. However, I can't tell what it is holding. Is that a body mount?

When I push on the gas to pick up speed my car seems to bog down and there is a sort of clicking of flapping metal noise coming from the engine. What could this mean?

Check timing
try using higher octane gas
check if overheating
engine internal mechanical issue

1999 Ford Taurus SE, 51780 miles.

I am having an issue with my 1999 Taurus. During regular driving, I notice that it has become difficult to turn the vehicle to the left. It will turn, but it takes some force, and when it does navigate the turn, there is a "click", as if, something is stuck and/or worn. Right turns are no issue and steering seems normal.

I did notice today the power steering fluid is low. I can fill that, but that cannot be the only problem.

Any advice on this one?

its either the rack and pinion or the power steering pump. by the problem you stated it more than likely the rack. if the fluid is low then you have a leak. top of your power steering and see how it feels then check for leaks. reguardless where it's leaking from it really sounds like the rack, just because of the hard steering you described. if you do the job yourself you will need to keep the old part to turn it back in for the core refund. good luck :)

1995 ford tarus 3.0 we start going down the road at 30 mph mark we hear clicking from under the car at the 40 mph we hear a sound like air leakin from under the car what could cause this please help thanks

Check the front bottom spoiler. Sometimes they come loose from hitting curbs when parking in a parking lot or it could be missing a bolt. They can flop around and make the clicking noise you hear.
