2006 Ford Taurus Wet carpet passenger side

On the passengers side of the car I noticed there appeared to be mold or fungus growing at the top of the carpet. As i pulled the carpet back I realized that it was wet on the back side of the carpet and mold was growing on the back of the carpet. It appears that it is coming from the underside of a black pipe that come the the wall of the car right above where a passenger would put their feet.
The pipe appears to have a rubber gasket around it.

This looks like a heater core or hose to heater core leak. This is no easy job to get into and see what is wrong and fix. It is better then 8 hours shop time. I would have a pressure test done to make sure it is leaking from the heater before tearing into it because is could also be that the vent for the A/C unit is pluged and backing up. The a/c works year around and condesates as well. Get back to me and we can go from there.

Don't think it is heater core. No smell, not slick feel to the moisture. How would I check AC unit?

Ok first off I would open the hood and on the right side is where your cabin air filter is. Make sure it is clean and that there are no leaves stuck in there that won't allow the water to drain as it should. Here is a pic to help with that.

After checking that you will need to under the car so putting it up on ramps may be helpfull. Now there is a rubber tube that comes out and points down and the end may look like it is pinched off so nothing goes back up into it. Now use a coat hanger and make sure no debre is in there. If you live around pine trees I have seen these needles get in everthing and plug the cowl drains and the A/C drain tube. Let me know how it goes and we will go from there.
