I'm getting this code and my car is skipping/misfiring when I drive. I changed the spark plugs and it still persists. What is most likely the problem and what do I have to buy?

Thanks.

This sounds like you need to replace the coil pack here is a video showing the job being done on a similar car

Please let us know if you need anything else to get the problem fixed.

Hello, my car keeps getting an intermittent P0353 (primary/secondary coil c) light. When it does, engine stutters for approximately thirty seconds then returns to normal. Always happens in the mornings, then clears up. Sometimes happens during daily driving but not always. some days it will drive all day long problem free. I have replaced the following: Spark plugs, spark plug wires, coil pack. Problem persists. I have fixed a few vacuum lines, only effect is slightly better fuel economy. Cleaned the throttle body, Idle air control valve, replaced PCV valve. Still, problem persists (intermittently).

My next plan was to put a multimeter to the wires from the PCM connector (pin 78,connector c175 for ignition coil c) to pin 2 on the coil pack plug C1065. Not sure if I am interpreting the schematic correctly. I assumed I should get direct continuity between:

Using a fluke multimeter---

C175 pin 26 to c1065 pin 3
C175 pin 52 to c1065 pin 1
C175 pin 78 to c1065 pin 2

Not sure if I even have the right schematic because I get:

C175 pins 78 and 52, Continuity to pin 4 (hot wire)
C175 pin 26 "sketchy?" continuity to pin 4?

I am at a loss. Please help

see pictures for how to check this, it is PCM pin 78 on your car. it may be a bad PCM which if replaced will have to have security programmed to your car or it wont start or run. a mechanic at a garage can do it not an auto parts scanner.

Hello again. Thanks for the four pages you sent me, i am beginning to suspect the PCM. Do you have the procedures for the PCM re-flash? I pulled a PCM from the junk yard out of an identical Taurus (Same year, same engine).

PCM re-flashes have to be done by a mechanic with a pro scanner or a dealer.
