What is a transmission range sensor circuit and what does it do and how do you replace it

Its a neutral safety switch located on top of tranny its job to prevent the starter from engaging and starting if the selector shift in any drive gears or reverse. It is where the shifter cable hooks up to the arm on the transmisison
