I know there are many code reader/scanner tools out there. Are there any scanners that not only give the trouble code, but also tell what that code means. I want to keep a scanner in my car and not have to go run to my computer and look up what a code stands for.

sure there are plenty of obdII scanners that will tell you what the code means. EQUUS has to be one of the best brands available, although you do get what you pay for. A 50 or 60$ scan tool will give you the code and maybe let you clear it, a 150$ or so scan tool will tell you what the code means and maybe possible solutions, a $300 + scanner will let you actually turn on and off different components (fuel injectors, sensors etc...) along with the other functions that the cheaper scan tools have ..
