Electrical problem
2003 Ford Taurus 6 cyl Front Wheel Drive Automatic 80K miles

We have a a few lights on in the Ford Taurus 2003. Airbag, ABS and breaks (both). I've been told it won't pass safety if the ABS light is on. The code reader is not picking up any codes, how do I find out what's wrong with it? Could all 3 be related? The vehicle was in an accident, but the airbags have been replaced with new. I believe the sensors were also replaced. Thanks!

Most of the cheaper code readers won't read abs or air bag code's.I think maybe the abs and brake light being on are related. But i think the air bag light on is a different issue. If you could get me the code's i could get you some trouble tree's.I know actron make's a cheap abs code reader but from what i read you have to be careful to make sure it work's for your year and model because it doesn't work for every car.See what you can find out.

Thank you for replying! The airbag flashes a code 42.I'm trying to get some one to take a look at the codes with a professional code reader, but that may be a few days yet. Is there an electric schematic diagram available for the 2003 taurus, for airbag and ABS? That would be a great help!

Thank you very much!

Thank you for all that information. I will look into it!! Do you have the wiring diagram for the Airbag (and/or ABS) for the ford taurus 2003? The schematic diagram would be of huge help to me.

Do you think it could pass safety with the Airbag and ABS lights on? Thank you for your time! It is greatly appreciated!

I emailed you the airbag wire diagram i need to know if you have traction control so i can get you the correct abs wire diagram. As far as your safety check goes you will have to call a official safety check station to see if it will or not.I used to do new york state inspection's when i lived up there and the laws change from year to year and different state's different rule's.If i had to guess i would say the abs light on would be ok since not all cars have abs and when the light is on you just have normal base brakes. The air bag light they might have a problem with since all the cars have airbags for that year. Also are bags are part of the restraint system and i know in new york all seat belt's even the power ones have to work to pass state inspection. So i would say they would care about that airbag light being on.But call them to make sure.
