I have what I believe is a rubber/urethane timing belt and cannot find it anywhere but the dealer however when I called them to get pricing they advised me that it is a chain and not a belt but I swear I see rubber of some sort and it is shreaded...
I have also researched online as well as called and have been told that there is very little possibility that there was any damage to the valve-train or pistons and the only thing I should expect is that the timing is off.
I am pretty mechanically inclined. I have basic tools but am still wondering what my chances are at successfully repairing my Taurus myself are. Are any special tools needed? How much time should I need.
Oh yes, one last thing. When the car came to a stop, the coolant was leaking everywhere. I was told that the belt may have cut the radiator hose. Does that sound accurate?
