Engine Mechanical problem
2002 Ford Taurus 6 cyl Front Wheel Drive Automatic 140 k miles
f you could look at my previous ? ALSO
I had (girlfriends) Head Gasket done , few months back .
vehichle , it ran somewhat better , but moves slow from stop , (he did guarentee it) and has less power
Have been in touch with mechanic , he insists its probably fuel injectors. I had another garage do diagnostic , they said seemed like head gasket.
Just yesterday, (finally looked at again) Mechanic who fixed head gasket , did the pressure check and now says its probably O rings .
This, is looking like his guarentee , of head gasket , was easy to make . 2 cylinders have considerable less pressure . 40 out of 120 . He is saying its O rings , and job would be expensive ( car is also not worth much ). ( open up heads etc.) It seems to me , he fixed head gasket ,(and guarenteed it) and now conveniently says its O rings, but if he rebuilt engine and we now had lack of pressure he would say it was head gasket .
He admits that lack of pressure can be gasket , but says we checked pressure after fixing it , so it cant be gasket.
Is there any way to definately know ?
He is not being totally dismissive , but obviously doesnt want to cooperate .
I know i can get it done , by someone else , and fight him in small claims, or take proof , and win or maybe get him to pay me .
My idea is to offer him $$ , for the cost of his employee to open it up and actually show me .
so if took 3-5 hrs , vegas wages maybe 15 $ hr.
first off
1) is he lieing to me , is it head gasket?
2) any other ideas?
3) does my possible proposal of paying for minimal time , in case he is right to open heads reasonable ? ,of course if its head gasket I should pay nothing
