you could also reach your hand up in the bumper and push out on it.

My son had a deep dent in the corner of his rear bumper. I thought it was hopeless. The shop wrote and estimate for new one. Not happening on this old car (2001) Friend told me they are plastic and it will pop out. He said to warm it with a hair dryer which makes it more flexible and easier to pop. THe kid ,age 17, and his friend did it on their own and you can hardly tell!!! (popped by pusjinh out with hand from behind bumper)
