2001 ford taurus v6 auto transmission service questions

using a flush machine will pull most of the fluid out of the converter , the filter is metal with a fiber inner core , and yes there is may be a problem with cleaning material from the v/b , the flush machine i used we fill with 16 quarts and start the flush using more flluid enabled us to overflush the system and try to get rid of anything

I do not think i stated the first question correctly.

If I was too service this transmission the manual way
IE. Drop the pan and relplace the filter. Is there an access panel and a pipe plug fitting on the torque converter to open and drain the converter like the old
c-4 and c-6 transmissions used to have. If not, is machine flushing the only method of effectivley changing out the fluid?

no plug , if you want to get it all out go for the flush , the only thing i dont like about the flush is your old filter is still there , but they work pretty good and they ony cost about 120.00

thanks jim, I figured they eliminated the plug by now.
ps: in the old days we used to drill and tap the converter and install an 1/8 pipe plug (very carefully).

im 37 and i remember doing it too , remember when the converters used to bolt together ?? about 5 years ago they started making them for racecars funny
