2-3 months ago I did a front engine cover gasket replacement. I had to replace the oil pan gasket in the process. The service manual said about 106 ftlbs for the bolts. I thought that was extremely high (actually broke one bolt using the torque wrench before I just torqued by feel). Now the gasket is pushed out from between the pan and the engine. Was it to tight? What torque should I set it at? Or is it something else?

Apply a bead of silicone gasket and sealant in 2 places where the cylinder block meets the front cover and in 2 places where the rear main bearing cap meets the cylinder block.
The new gasket I believe was updated to include a lip to hold in on the pan

106ftlb is an extrem

it should be around 10 ftlb
