Shakes or Wobbles problem
2001 Ford Taurus 6 cyl Front Wheel Drive Automatic
----------------------------------------------------------------
I just had the tires rotated on my 01 Taurus. They were not balanced at the time. As soon as I hit 45 mph I noticed a strong vibration. I took the car to a different garage and had the tires balanced. I noticed today that the vibration is still there, somewhat diminished, but it comes and goes. One minute I feel nothing then I will feel the virbation. I found out yesterday that the person who owned this car before me put three different brands of tires on the car. Two are 35 psi and two are 44 psi. The 35 psi are both on the right side of the car, the 44 psi are on the left. (I noticed a similiar vibration when I first test drove the car but it was gone when I bought it.)

Yes different tire makes can cause vibrations. Have the same tires placed on same axle. The 35 front and 44 rear like that see if it helps.
