Hi all. 2000 Taurus with 3.0L OHV engine. Even with the freon charged, the A/C clutch will not come on. The fuse and relay are fine. I've also jumped the low pressure switch, and still nothing. It's been suggested that I apply battery power directly to the compressor, to see if the clutch engages. There is also another switch in the back of the compressor, but I don't know what it is.

Does anybody have a wiring diagram for the air conditioning?

Thanks!

Power the clutch from the battery and see if it engages the compressor if not the clutch is defective, now if it engages the compressor -the compressor is seized

Thank you for your reply, but I don't understand. Do you think you could elaborate a bit?

Thanks!

It's been suggested that I apply battery power directly to the compressor, Did youi? if not run a wire from the battery positive post straight to the clutch.

Also check the AC clutch relay. Do you see a black and yellow wire and also a plain black on the clutch? If so apply power to the black and yellow and see if the clutch engages the compressor.

Thanks for your reply. I have not yet applied B+ directly to the clutch, will have to make a longer jumper wire than I presently have. I've jumped the relay, and it hasn't helped. Do you have a wiring diagram for the A/C? It looks like the clutch has 2 wires in the plug. Which post on the clutch would I hook the jumper to?
