2000 Ford Taurus Can't turn on AC/Heat/Defrost without affe

Once the car has warmed up and you turn on the compressor (AC/Heat/Defrost) it affects how the car runs. If you are on the freeway, the car still runs fine, but if you are sitting at a light, the car wants to die. The RPMs go to normal then jump down real quick to almost die then go back to normal then back down again. This goes on until you turn off the AC/Heat/Defrost, then the car runs fine. If you sit with your car running for a period of time and the AC/Heat/Defrost is on, the car will eventually die.

OK I would check the IAC (idle air control) motor. If you have a digital multi meter we can run a test to see if it bad.
