2000 Ford Taurus CAN YOU SAY DFPE?

did you try applying vacuum to egr valve with engine running? you need to check if there is flow through egr valve.

mechanic claims to have check it even appears that he replaced some the tubing to the egr. I even took this car to the dealer ship. they keep saying dpfe. I brought 2 of the these sensors at advance auto, finally said forget and kicked out a lil more at the napa store. so do you think that this really the problem or is there a blockage further though the engine. I do use premium fuel 92 octane or better.

well the dpfe sensors go bad on all of these. it is easy enough to check for blockage by applying vacuum to the valve when its running, it should almost stall when you do that. also there is a bulletin for this code coming back for incorrect hose position. try swapping the hoses if you are not sure.

to apply vacuum pressure what do i need to do i have already kicked out nearly 400 bucks messing with this im about to go crazy. I am a single mom and cant afford to keep going to these mechanics so alot of times if the work is simple and not too too dirty i do it myself.

if you do not have a vacuum pump(you probably dont) all you have to do is get a long piece of vacuum hose and unplug a vacuum line somewhere on engine that has vacuum at idle. then connect your piece of vacuum line from there to the valve while its running, if the egr valve is working correctly then the car should stall or atleast run really rough.

thanks so much i think i can handle that, but if it doesnt stall, that means the valve is not working or thier is a clog somewhere else?

hi did what what you said with vacuum lines car started to idle kinda rough. so there isnt a clog possibly. so what next?

hey its me again...after switching the wires the other day drove around 20 miles and guess what the lights back and its got the same code. why why why?

well unfortunately we are at the point where we need to connect scan tool and look at voltages then trace wiring and there is not much more we can do here. sorry
