Hello,

Thanks for taking the time... my transmission acted like it was slipping, but their were other odd things occurring as well such as, when the transmission began "slipping," I could put the car in neutral, coast, and the RPM's would actually go up! Also, the "slipping" could ocurr anytime, whether the car was warm, cold, no apparentt reason. I would remember these oddities later (see below/read on).

So I took car to AAMCO, they found one defective transmission sensor, replaced both, and said there is nothing wrong with transmission. The "slipping" continued on & off.

Several weeks later, the car's working fine, I drive to the store, and when I go to start the car, the fuel pump breaks (the car turned over but it would not start). The car is towed to Ford, they install a new fuel pump, filter, etc., and car has operated great for 3 months. No "slipping transmission" problems at all, and i thought that was the probloem - a faulty fuel pump causing this slipping thing. BTW, this was after Ford said I needed a new $3,000 transmission (and they didn't mention anything about the faulty scensors).

Then just the other day, the exact same problem begins occurring again. As before, the Check Engine light came on, but I think it's electricial. Just as before, I could be driving the car, and it could be doing great, and then I could turn on the heating system, the car "jumps," the check engine light flashes on/off, and then the "slipping transmission" thing begins. It had also been driving great, i turn on the headlight, and BAM, problem begins ocurring.

I also discovered that when this issue would happen, I could sometimes pull over, turn the car off, wait 1 minute, start it back up, and it'll drive just fine! Then again, sometimes that wouldn't help.

I also noticed that the car could be driving perfectly, then for no reason, it would "jump" and it act like it never wants to get out of second gear. So I'd be limping along at 3,000 RPM's, doing 30 MPH, place it in neutral, see RPM's reeve up a little, then down, WEIRD!

Can this be a computer issue, something that previously killed my fuel pump, coinsidence, ignition coil, I don't know.

I know I will have to take it into the shop again, but is it worth me spending $40 and replacing the ignition coil?

Not likely the coil, sounds like it may have a bad connection somewhere that is messing with the system voltage.Have you had it scanned to see what the codes are? (check engine light). The on-board diagnostics are there to help in finding problems like this one.Get it scanned and get back to me with what you find
