The button on the center gear shifter won't go in while the car is turned on or even while full power is given to the console. I can only get the car into gear (neutral) after one click of the key, before the console lights come on, and then can turn on the car and get it in gear. It happened once a while ago and then every time today I could not get the car to shift into gear properly. I've heard of this a few times. What is the origin and what can I do about it? Will my "car half on trick" always work?
