Backed out of driveway and gear shift lever moved with no connection. Under hood with brake on and engine running, manually turned Transaxle control lever to get it into D and drove back into my driveway.
If I put it in reverse I can shift from inside the car to park. Moving it out of park puts it back doing nothing again.
Question; Do you think that since I can put it into Park from Reverse, from the inside the car, the shift cable is not broken loose but the problem is top side and can be adjusted?
Being a 98 the column shrouds would probably crack as I take them off, so I,m hoping it can be fixed above them.

Check and tighten the bolts at the bottom of the link where the shifter cable connect to the shifter column
