i have a 98 tauras dohc model & it will start & the car runs but when i move it into any gear it dies & the battery lght comes on....any idea what that could be???

does the battery light come on when its running or after it dies? do y0ou have to jump start the car at all?

check for a vacuum leaks
check and clean idle air control valve
battery light on when car running check charging system
