I have a 97 Taurus 3.0 OHV, A/T. I'll start by saying I have replaced the IAC and the TPS. The car while idling is fine. Once you start to drive for a while it will start to take off. If you put it in Neutral the RPMs rev up to about 3500-4000. I have had it in the shop a couple of times and they can't find any codes. They suggest I replace the IAC, so I did (exchanged the one I just bought), still doing the same.

I think your throttle linkage is sticking a bit and you need a good throttle body cleaning. start by spraying the linkage with some wd 40 and then clean the throttle plate/body

CHECK THE LARGE TUBE GOING FROM THE AIR BOX TO THE THROTTLE BODY, FOR A CRACK OR HOLE. THIS NEEDS TO BE AIR TIGHT OR WILL CAUSE A HIGH IDLE TOO, CHECK FOR DIRTY THROTTLE PLATE

I will check this. However it doesn't idle high when just sitting/parked. That's what's confusing. It only happens when driving.

It does it when I am driving. Not just while stopping or slow turns around corners. Anytime the car is moving for more than a few miles.

Had the TPS replaced, under warranty. Had it checked out after installed. Working properly. Still, while driving car wants to REV up on it's own. Only happends while driving, NOT while idiling.

What is the speed range range before it goes high? You sure the transmission is not slipping in/out Hook up a fuel pressure gauge and monitor the fuel pressure before it goes high. BTW at anytime did you disconnect the battery while replacing parts Lets try the relearning process below and also select your type of tranny If it doesn't work-Get the computer tested

Ok did that resetting as directed on the last post (Thanks). This happens at speeds above 20 MPH. It is still doing it and the Transmission isn't slipping. I feel like I can't win with this one.....?????

Thanks for all of your help, I'll keep trying :-)
