1997 Ford Taurus not charging

im on my third altenator, and battery is still not being charged. all the fuses and relays in the power distribution box check out ok, exept the 30 amp mini fuse for the generator / voltage regulator. the fuse is good but no power there, the battery light is on in the insterment panell while the engine is running. the car runs fine while the battery has a good charge. i dont think its the alt, this one is almost new. what else could it be,

Hi dave233,

You have changed so many alternators so the possibility of it being faulty again is not high. I would say it is a wiring or fuse problem.

If the charging voltage at alternator and battery are different, it is an open wire from alternator to battery.

Check if ignition switch power is being supplied to alternator connectors.

Since the fuse does not have any power, the wires and connectors needs to be checked at fuse box. Apply battery current to fuse and see if charging works.
