My Taurus has the digital 'mileage remaining' readout on the fuel gauge and has been wrong for some time. Periodically while driving, it falls to empty and has to recalculate. Sometmes it just stays on empty. When driving at night, the headlights dim considerably when the brakes are applied or power windows are used. When getting out of the car, (ignition off, key removed) the overhead light is often very dim, but a touch on the brake pedal will cause the overhead light to come back to full brightness, where it may remain, or go back dim in a short time. The car will often stall with a complete electrical failure when driving. It self recovers, never more than about 1 second later and drives ok. All of these things seem to be easy as individual items but all together, I cant help but think it's all connected. Not sure what the common denominator would be. Read a post about a bad battery that was causing a car to do the same things. I changed the battery but no change. I just don't want to start throwing parts at it hoping for the best but electrical issues are just not my strong suit. Please share your thoughts.

i would look v ery closely at the negative caqble going to the battery and if there is a smaller black wire going to ground then i would clean and replace that ground, its very common for this ground to cause gremlins to appear in this model
