We have been having an issue with our Taurus, about 2 months ago, we thought the transmission just went out, no signs of problems or anything. We were advised to change the Transmission filter and after we did, the car worked great, you never would have known there was an issue. about a month went by I went to leave for work, and once again it would not go into drive, Reverse has never had an issue and has worked fine all along- we let it set for a few days and then it worked fine. Last week I once again went to leave, and it wouldn't go- we needed to move it from where it was after about 4 days, and low and behold, it was working fine again, no problems with getting it in gear. We have been told maybe there is a sensor or a relay that needs to be switched, any ideas what could be causing this, it is really weird?

Could be a sticky solenoid.Intermittent problems are hard to find, they will usually work when taken to a shop.......lol A trans diagnostic scan and function test might not show anything, but hten again it may fail for them and you would know the problem. Otherwise it needs to be not working to find the problem unless it has stored a code, which the scan will show
