my head gasket blew while driving and the engine stopped running. I had it towed to my house and I changed the head gasket. I went to start it and it would not start. I checked the compression. there is compression in all the cylinders except the #1 cylinder. What could be the cause of this?

Hello –

To better assist you please tell me the model of your vehicle. Is it a GL, LX, or SHO. Also the engine size in liter and the 8th digit of your VIN. I have attached a pic of the 6 cylinder choices.

When you pulled the heads did you notice anything different about that cylinder???

Did you over torque the push rods? If you did then the valves are open.

Normally when I do this……I preset all of the nuts to just about 3/16 of an inch from the top. Then when I start the car to adjust……I then adjust from that point.

How do you do it?
