I have a 2001 Ford Ranger Edge. It has a 3.0 liter V6 and approximately 125,000 miles. Recently, my factory stereo and windshield wipers stopped working. The lights behind my stereo will come on, and the stereo will read "no cd" if I hit the eject button, and the clock will come on for 10 seconds. After that the clock turns off. The stereo will not play any music, and the clock will not come on otherwise. There is no error message, and the buttons do nothing. The windshield wipers don't work at all. I have check every fuse (including what has nothing to with either system) in both the cabin and the engine compartment. I have tested the relays and everything is still good. I am at a loss. Can someone please help?

Hi there,

Thank you for your donation.

I think the two problems are unrelated at this stage. I feel that the radio is a low voltage issue, if you are able to remove the radio and check input voltage, if its well below 12 V you will have to start tracing back check at fuse block for voltage as well. if voltage is ok, then it would be fair to say the radio is faulty. For the wipers also check voltage at wiper motor plug, to start with, check any earth leads are clean and tight. do this first and report your findings here.

I have a 1999 Ranger with a similar problem, so I'm not sure the two are unrelated. My wipers will turn themselves on at random times and the stereo will switch from radio to CD at random times. It happens maybe a few times a week. Annoying but not bad enough that I want to get into the electrical system.
