I have a 1995 ford ranger xlt 4 cyl. with 199,000 miles on it. I thought my heater core was bad so we spent 9hrs installing a new one this weekend and that didn't solve it. So we put a new heater control valve in it that only took 3 min and BINGO! that was it, we got heat. The only problem is my AC is running at the same time that my heater is on. I can hear it clicking on and off. When I rev the engine I get heat but when it idles it turns cold so I took out the fuse to my AC and now I just get heat. So my question is why would my AC be running at the same time as my defroster and how do I fix it? Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.
