My wife had a new battery installed because the battery light was on abd sears checked it out and the technician said it needed a new battery. By the time she got home the light was on again. I took the alternator to the auto store and it checked out good. It was however charging over 15 amps. I thought it was supposed to be about 14. Still the light is on. Is there something I am, missing

You must mean the alternator was putting out 15 volt's that's good.Let's do this start the engine up and let it idle now take a multimeter and see what the voltage is reading let me know what the voltage is.
