Hi, I have a squeak under the hood of my truck. I replaced the acc. belt and idler pullies both the top one and the auto tensinor one thinking it was the belt or pully bearings. hahahah still squeaks or really it is a "chirp". no harm those parts were scheduled to be replaced anyway...

The sound seems to be coming from the top of the engine mid to back of the engine compartment between the two cylinder heads.

It does change with rpm and is there when the engine is hot or cold.

No performance issues.... but the noise drive me crazy......

any ideas any help is greatly appreciated

That is most likely the cam angle sensor housing. It looks like a distributor with a different top on it.When Ford went to this it appears they restricted oil to the bushing in it and they will sound exactly like a drive belt or bearing. You can try removing it.(mark its position, has to go back exactly where it was) and wash the bushing out with oil until quiet and put it back in,I have had some success with that, but they usually need replacing
