melted and blew the fuse for the O2 heater circuit

Last November my slave cylinder went out. I pulled the trans and replaced it. As I was reinstlling the trans I crushed the plug to the O2 sensor, (motor side), between the trans and engine. I drove it a few months with it disconneced. When it came time to get the smog test done, I made up some wires and connected them to a new O2 sensor with bullet connectors. The repair worked for about 4 months without a problem. Recently the wires fell onto the exhaust manifold, melted and blew the fuse for the O2 heater circuit. I removed my "repair" and replaced it with a new pigtail with the proper plug and another new O2 sensor. I wired it the same way I did with the first repair. Now I am getting 2 trouble codes that confuse me. They are P1131 {Lack of HO2S1 Swithes- Lean (Bank 1, Sensor1)} and P1132 {Lack of HO2S1 Switches- Rich (Bank 1, Sensor 1)}. Could the shorted wires have damaged the ECM or anything else? If not what else could cause the trouble codes?
I am a boat mechanic who loves wrenching on anything, but emissions are not one of my strong points. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks

Hello,

Codes P1131 and P1132 are due to faulty wiring. It is possible when it got melted it damaged the harness. It likely needs to be replaced.
