When the truck sits for a day or two upon starting and while warming up, sometimes before it get hot, the check gauge light comes on, and there is a noise from the engine, if I rev the engine, the light and the noise stops, and truck runs ok. When I look at the radiator there is some rust colored liquid around the filler cap?

Can you describe the noise? It's important in order to get a proper diagnosis.

The noise sounds short of metal to metal, or a squeeking.

It may be what is called the camshaft syncronizer. On your engine it will sit on top of the back of the motor. It may be under some stuff, but it's there. If you pop your hood before you start it, listen to the frontside of the engine and then to the rear. If its loudest up next to the fire wall, that's it. If not, try to figure out your best guess. Post back and we'll figure it out. If you have any other questions, feel free to ask.
