Brakes problem
2002 Ford Ranger Four Wheel Drive Manual 102000 miles

Dear Sir,
While driving my pickup I noted a humming sound and excess viabration. After stopping I went to each wheel feeling the hubs and nearly scorched my hand when I placed it on the front left wheel hub.
I removed the wheel and with a flashlight found that the brakes appear to be jammed on.
How can I release this as it is some way to the nearest garage.

Hello

You need to manually depress the brake caliper piston to pull the caliper away from the rotor. The brake caliper is pressing the pads against rotor and needs to be loosened. However, driving in this condition even after lossening piston can be dangerous, as the front brakes may fail or lock up again. I suggest replacing both brake calipers without driving vehicle if possible. If you must, drive the vehicle slowly with hazard lights on to the repair shop and have them replace calipers.
