My 02 Ranger with a 3.0 engine and 128,000 miles has been great except for this darn trouble code that seems to come and go. Someone told me it was a seat belt pre-tensioner. I removed the seat belt from the frame and there are no wires hooked to it anywhere. I sure would appreciate any help you can be. Thank You.

45 does not come up as a good code! Get that scanned again and have them write the code down, These will be "B" codes...four digits then a forward slash typical code would be B1888/16 Let us know...

Thank you very much for your fast response however the code I have is 46. The way I got the code is from the flashing air bag light on the instument coulmb. I have checked it several times to me sure I counted the flashes correctly. Any ideas would be appreciated very much. I spoke with a dealer and naturally they won't tell me anything except that it could cost between $200 to $400 to repair. They are the ones that told me that it was the seat belt. Thanks again.

Ok you have a flash codes of 46 which is a B1877 or B1885 Left pretensioner, The only way further testing is possible is to have the right scantool, and do an on demand test, if you have the tool, Here are the tests..

Not practical. Just check the connector under the driver's seat for proper connection - that's the problem 90% of the time. For the other 10%, if you have the equipment, time and technical knowhow, this is fine.
