Engine Mechanical problem6 cyl Four Wheel Drive Automatic 124100 miles

I have what appears to be an oil pressure gauge that is not functioning. I purchased a new oil pressure sending unit in hopes that it will fix the gauge issue. The problem is that I have no clue where the old one in in the engine compartment. I stopped at a Valvoline Quick Oil Change hoping they could help to locate it but they could not. Any place I could find an illustration that would point out the unit in my pickup?

The oil pressure sender is near the oil filter. Here are some diagrams that will show you where the sender is on both 6 and 4 cylinder engines. (below)

Please let us know what happens.

Cheers, Ken

I need to know where the oil pressure switch is at on the truck listed above. also it's not in the front, where all the diagrams say it is. Also it's a manual transmission if that has anything to do with the location of the oil pressure switch.

The blue arrows are pointing to it. The first and fourth drawings are the two parts of component layout under the hood. The second and third are just expanded views if the first drawing to make it easier to read.

"On the fourth picture where is the oil pressure switch because I think that diagram is the right on but it doesn't label the oil pressure switch.".

The fourth diagram isn't involved with your request. I just included it so you would have everything available for your truck. The sending unit is shown on the first drawing, but it's hard to read. That's why I cut it in half so it could be expanded. That's the second and third drawings, and those are where I added the blue arrows at the bottom.

look in your owners manual and see if this light is telling you low oil pressure or low oil level

low oil pressure is the sending unit its about the size of your thumb normally located on one of the heads this needs to be monitered closely when the light comes on listen to the engine
if the engine starts clicking that is your oil pump going bad

low oil pressure is a float on the oil pan

My truck leaks oil pretty bad causing most of the underside to be covered in oil. I am having a hard time locating the engine oil pressure switch. Any help with this would be appreciated. The more detailed instructions as to its location the better. Thank you
