1999 Ford Ranger My Brake Lights Don't Work

I see someone had a similar question, both right/left and the third brake light have stopped working on my truck, 99 Ranger 2wd 5Sp manual, about 86000 mi. I've checked the fuses, am going to be checking bulbs next since they all went at the same time, I read about a switch under the dash, I see the answer to the similar question was regarding the "blinker switch", my specific question, is the brake light switch or blinker switch an expensive part, and is that a DIY job or would I need a repair shop for that??
